Brooke Zhang Portfolio
Welcome to my portfolio page, where I show my past project that I have worked on.
The Hoop Stool is inspired by a versatile long oval shape that we see replicated in our everyday lives. By emphasising and exaggerating the armrest of the stool and paring with the thin and discrete metal structure, Hoop Stool displays playfulness and tidy design in harmony.
LOOP & WAVY
The continuous wave appeared from the front and disappeared at the other end, serves as an armrest and backrest of the wavy chair. A small side table for the perfect cup of coffee on a Sunday morning is the perfect scene to fit this young and vibrant chair in. The Loop Bench emerged by marrying a simple and playful form with bright colour, it brings a hint of summer into the home. The naive shape of the legs and backrest allows the colour to pop without any disruptions.

Designed around the philosophy of “the beauty of a pause or a blank space between words”, Yohaku is a set of hand-carved and turned wood utensils that celebrate the beauty of simple and geometric shapes. Each piece is unique due to its natural timber grain and the imperfections of the carving process. Made for modern individuals in a fast-paced life, seeking for a moment to slow down, these pieces are hand-carved and turned, then waxed with a homemade coconut and beeswax seal.
I have always been a hands-on person, craft and making are ingrained in my life. Woodworking is a longtime passion of mine. Over the years after graduated from university, I picked up spoon carving and wood turning. Until now, I and still carving and chiseling away during my free time.
Dentro Vase Set
Dentro is a set of sculptural vases constructed by layering acrylic. Aiming to explore the beauty of clear acrylic, the contrast between the geometric outer shape and organic, flowing inside, creates a well-balanced sculptural piece. The transparency of acrylic allows the complex and dynamic shaped to be revealed, whilst also creating an illusion of depth when looking from either end of the vase.
